Gambia
Many villages in the interior of Gambia do not yet have access to sufficient drinking water. Kunting is one of these villages. It has 2500 inhabitants and is located near the Gambia River. At present there is a water supply, but due to the rapid population growth this is no longer sufficient to provide the current population with sufficient water. The already foreseen storage capacity of the water is not sufficient, which means that there is often no more water in the reservoirs during bad weather.
In collaboration with Warme Gloed, we, three motivated students, will provide a new infrastructure to increase both the supply and storage of water. We will do this by means of a solar pump. Warme Gloed is a non-profit organization that focuses on Gambia, specifically on Kunting. One of their most important goals is to implement structural changes, so that Kunting can grow independently in the long term. And in this way can be an example/source of inspiration for other villages.
