Join us
as a postgraduate
Are you ready to dedicate a year after graduation to our shared goal: making sustainable technology accessible to everyone? Are you looking for a unique experience combining study and work, where you apply your technical knowledge to real-world societal challenges?
The Humasol Postgraduate Programme at KU Leuven offers just that. For one academic year, you'll work intensively in a team of four on a large-scale Humasol project. You'll be involved in the entire project process: from dimensioning and design to detailed preparation and on-site implementation in the Global South. You'll collaborate closely with international partners and carry out the project on-site for approximately three months.
You'll also take an active role on the Humasol board. This way, you'll not only contribute to your own project but also help strengthen Humasol's broader operations and impact. Consider roles in Corporate Relations, Follow-Up, Communications, or other strategic areas.
In concrete terms, you will work full-time in a team of four students on an innovative and sustainable Humasol project in Leuven for one academic year, combined with a management position.
Through the Technovation Hub at KU Leuven, we offer the program, which consists of 56 credits, 44 of which are for your work at Humasol and 12 credits for personal development and courses that relate to your project or Humasol's core values.
The Humasol Postgraduate Programme is a unique opportunity to:
-
gain practical experience with a large-scale international project
-
to develop technical, organizational and leadership skills
-
to achieve a tangible impact with sustainable technology
-
to build a strong network within academia, companies and international partners

How a Humasol project works
A project at Humasol starts with a Student Kick-off where the general operation of Humasol is discussed and how we achieve international solidarity. You will be assigned a team, project and coach and there will be a small team building activity to get to know each other better.
During the academic year, you will work on the project as a team with the help of a coach – an experienced Humasol member – who is only too happy to share practical experience and be your first point of contact. Your preparation starts with a thorough literature study and good partner contact in the first semester. This will be followed by an intermediary report and presentation. The design is then concretized and practical aspects are taken care of. Your preparation ends with the final report and final presentation in April. During the year we provide sessions where the project is worked on together and updates are requested. We also offer a certificate for completing Intercultural Management & Communication (IMC) sessions. If everything goes well, Humasol will give you approval to carry out your project on location.
The project requires at least eight weeks to complete to ensure a good finish. After your return, you will write an (internship) report and share your memorable experiences during the annual Humasol return event.
