Humidity sensor for coffee
2017
Peru
Peruvian coffee farmers often lose a lot of money when selling their harvest, because the moisture content of their coffee beans deviates from the ideal sales value. A small, portable and cheap moisture meter estimates the moisture content and can help farmers sell at the right time.
After several summers of extensive testing, Humasol is now ready for the next step in the story of the moisture meter for coffee beans. The intention is to carry out a Minimal-Viable-Product (MVP) phase this summer, in which the product will be sold with its current accuracy to a closed group of coffee farmers. This is still being done in collaboration with coffee federation Sol y Café. This phase can be seen as a beta version of the product. The feedback from the MVP phase can be used to further improve the product where necessary. This feedback comes directly from the farmers, after using the device. This important information is in addition to the market research that was carried out last year. The moisture sensor working group is committed to the further realisation of this project. The focus here is on finding sponsorship, refining the business plan, communicating with coffee federation Sol y Café and preparing the MVP phase.
