Niños con Alas

2026

Bolivia

This summer, we are heading to Cochabamba, Bolivia, to work in Maria Christina, a government-funded home that cares for young people, many of them orphans, with mental and physical disabilities. It includes two centers: one for boys and one for girls. We’re partnering with Niños con Alas, a Belgium-based non-profit that helps us make this project possible.

Currently, they have access to 12 showers, but only with cold water. This has unfortunately led to health problems, as the water is too cold for regular use. While a gas boiler is already available on-site, it cannot be used because gas is both too expensive and environmentally harmful. That is why our team will design and build a solar boiling system that provides hot water in a sustainable and cost-effective way.

In addition, we are exploring efficient composting methods to transform food waste and the manure from rabbits and chickens into natural fertilizer for the home’s vegetable garden. This initiative supports our broader goal of helping the community move toward greater self-sufficiency and environmental responsibility.
