Mobile solar panels

2017

Senegal

The electrical grid in Senegal is not stable. In addition, there are many people in the area around Nianing who do not have a connection to the electricity grid. These problems can be solved by building a mobile solar panel installation, which stores the energy from the sun during the day and can release this energy when needed. The mobility of the installation ensures that it can be transported and eventually rented out.

Solar panels have a big advantage in Africa: due to the high number of peak hours of sunshine per day and the high position of the sun, a lot of energy can potentially be generated. The disadvantage of this is that the panels are less efficient due to the high African temperatures. However, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, so solar energy is the preferred way to generate green energy. Since there are still many places where there is no electricity available, or where there is no stable electrical connection, it is an excellent opportunity to promote green energy in Senegal.

Together with FV Dimbali, Humasol is committed to starting a project in Senegal in which a mobile unit with solar panels will be made. The goal is to rent these to people who temporarily need a stable source of electricity for a special occasion. At the moment, this is still too often done by means of a generator, which is not so good for the environment. If the installation proves to be profitable, additional material can be purchased locally for the construction of a second installation.
