Our project “Potable water supply and improvement of hygiene and sanitation facilities for three rural communities and two secondary schools in Ghana, with renewable energy” consists of three parts. This year we will realize the third and last project of the collaboration between Humasol, FOS and Coliso (Ghanaian partner) “water and sanitation '23-'24”.
During our project we will provide drinking water for the village of Anlo Afiadenyigba in Ghana by mechanizing a water well, based on renewable energy.
Using solar panels, we will power a solar pump that pumps groundwater and brings it to a water reservoir 9 meters away. This water is guided through PVC pipes by gravity to be distributed to 6 different places in the village.
The aim of our project is primarily to contribute to the quality of life and human health of the local population. By choosing the positioning of the taps in a favourable way, we also want to ensure that women and children spend less time fetching water. In this way, more time can be spent on educating children. In addition, the intention is to make the local population more aware of hygiene and to provide additional training on the water installation in order to promote the sustainability of the project.
