Emergi

2026

Liberia

Emergi, located in the capital Monrovia, is a start-up striving to make the ride-hailing business more sustainable while empowering women drivers. Its fleet currently consists of 15 fully electric kekehs (EN: tuk-tuks), which recharge at Emergi’s solar-powered charging station. However, the solar panels do not yet generate enough energy to operate the fleet entirely green. Addressing this challenge is one of the main goals of the project. In addition, the kekehs have a limited driving range, and recharging takes too long. The project will therefore also focus on improving these aspects.

To tackle these challenges, the team will explore solutions such as battery swapping, installing solar rooftops, and upgrading the charging station. In line with Humasol’s commitment to sustainable development, sustainability will serve as the guiding principle throughout the project. For example, increasing the share of renewable energy, empowering women, ensuring economic feasibility, and promoting electric transportation.
