Electricity for computer class
2016
Congo
Over the last decades, the reliability of the electricity grid in DR Congo has deteriorated. Most of the time, there is only access to electricity between 2 and 4 a.m. In the school run by nuns and supported by Kalasi, there is a computer room, but it can never be used.
humasol has a lot of experience with solar panel installations. In order to learn from the past and improve future designs, humasol wants to connect a datalogger to each installation that allows control of the system's operation from Belgium.
humasol will install a solar panel system in the school, which is run by nuns and supported by Kalasi, and thus provide access to electricity. The project students will do this together with the local teachers so that they are able to carry out repairs and know how this technology works. This electricity will be used in the school for lighting and a computer class. In this way, the quality of education will increase and the students will enjoy a better education.
humasol currently has many installations in operation in the South. In order to refine the design of these installations in the future and to monitor the status of these existing systems, we are developing a data logger. This will be able to measure the input and output of both an installation with solar panels and a water turbine and send the data to Belgium. This information will be publicly displayed and shared with partners.
