Water supply with solar pump

Water supply for a school using a solar pump, a reservoir and plumbing.
Currently there is only a hand pump at a school in Sabou, Burkina Faso, without reservoir or plumbing. The school would like to be able to pump more water.
The goal of this project is to provide a school with a reliable water supply.

This school was built by our partner, vzw Benesa. It is located in Sabou, Burkina Faso and schools around 120 children. Currently, a hand pump is being used, but we will upgrade this to an electrical pump powered by a pv-installation. A water reservoir will also be built, with pipes to both the kitchen and a distribution point.

It is also important that the children learn about hygiene and frugality with use of water, which we will help with. The excess water could be sold or used in the vegetable gardens around the school. The pv-installation can also be used to light the classrooms in the evening.
