Since there were elections this weekend we couldn’t travel to Trujillo, and so we rescheduled to next week. I will go to Trujillo from Thursday to Friday and then to Cajamarca in the weekend, the last two cities I still want to visit here.
To compensate for this long weekend, I continued working this Saturday and Sunday. I went to Las Naranjas in order to perform some measurements, and the results where good. The tests at the first dry centre were also really good. With a deviation of 0.3%, we perform as good as the more expensive meters, so that is exactly what we wanted. As this was with cafe oro (this is cleaned coffee without peel), it is logical that it gives good results. Now I started calibration for café pergamino (coffee with peel and dirt in between). Because this is dirtier coffee, with a peel, its accuracy is much lower. From the first results it seems difficult to achieve an accuracy higher than 3%.
And there is something I don’t understand, some measurements completely changed in one hour, while the humidity remains approximately the same. Also, two different samples with the same humidity sometimes give very different values, which isn’t normal. I’ll have to figure out why this is and how we can solve this.
The election results are still not final. As I am writing this, PPK wins with 50.14%, while Keiko only has 49.86% of the votes. But everything can still change as not all of the foreign votes are counted yet. This results seem to indicate that the country doesn’t know what it wants and is really divided, and that the winner will have to take into account that almost half of the people did not support him/her. It has been an interesting election, with many allegations of corruption on both sides, I really cannot imagine that such a thing is even possible in Belgium without consequences.

Aangezien het dit weekend verkiezingen waren konden we niet naar Trujillo reizen, en dit is dan verzet naar volgende week. Ik ga dan van donderdag tot vrijdag naar Trujillo om dan in het weekend naar Cajamarca te gaan, de 2 laatste steden die ik nog wil bezoeken hier.
Om dit te compenseren heb ik ook zaterdag en zondag gewerkt. Ik ben naar Las Naranjas gegaan om er metingen uit te voeren, en die bleken goed. Ook de resultaten in het eerste droogcentrum zijn even goed als bij Sol&Café zelf. Met een afwijking van 0.3% zitten we even goed als de duurdere meters, wat dus uitstekend is. Aangezien dit met café oro was (dit is opgekuiste koffie zonder schil), is het logisch dat dit goede resultaten geeft. Nu ben ik begonnen met de kalibratie voor café pergamino (koffie met schil en met vuil tussen). Omdat dit vuilere koffie is, met een schil, ligt de nauwkeurigheid hiervan veel minder hoog. Uit de eerste resultaten lijk het moeilijk om een nauwkeurigheid van meer dan 3% te halen.
Ik zit ook met een raadsel, aangezien sommige metingen op 1 uur tijd volledig veranderen, terwijl de vochtigheid natuurlijk ongeveer gelijk blijft. Ook twee verschillende samples met dezelfde vochtigheid geven soms zeer uiteenlopende waarden, wat niet zou mogen. Ik moet nu dus uitzoeken hoe dit komt en hoe we dit kunnen oplossen.
De verkiezingsuitslagen zijn nog altijd niet binnen. Terwijl ik dit schrijf wint PPK met 50.14 %, terwijl Keiko dus maar 49.86% van de stemmen achter zich kreeg. Maar de buitenlandse stemmen zijn nog niet allemaal geteld en het kan dus nog veranderen. Dit geeft alleszins weer dat het land niet goed weet wat het wilt, en dat de winnaar er rekening mee zal moeten houden dat bijna de helft van het volk hem/haar niet steunt. Het is een interessante verkiezing geweest, met veel beschuldigingen van corruptie aan beide kanten, ik kan mij echt niet voorstellen dat zoiets in België mogelijk is zonder gevolgen.
