Eloy, my roommate is a professional slackliner from Barcelona.

So far we installed the slackline on our terrace, but this weekend we went looking for a more challenging place. The pool where I go swimming regularly seemed to be a good idea and this is where we put the rope in the end. About 20 m slackline and a swimming pool, a perfect mix for a great Sunday. My level is still almost 0, but Eloy will try to teach me the basics in 3 months.
Last week I also decided to buy a bike, since I regularly use a mototaxi, and in the end the costs go up. It’s great to drive through the streets on a bicycle here, they are clearly not used to seeing this. Eloy also bought one and we went for a short trip on Saturday, to the Rio Marañon.
The work is also going well. There was a temporary shortage of coffee beans, so I still wasn’t able to do the calibration. But this problem should be resolved quickly, now the coffee season is coming. So instead I worked on the design of the casing, which is almost finished now. I have also been looking for producers for the casing, this is how I found out about a plastic fair in Lima, one of the biggest of Latin-America. This fair is in 1 month and I will travel to Lima then to visit the fair and look for producers, both for the casing as for the other parts. I talked with Sol y Café about the future of the project, and they are still willing to support us. They want to keep working together, and support our ideas for the future of the project.
The Yapango’s also agreed with all of our conditions and would like to take on the production. They were clearly happy about this new “contract”, because it ensures our cooperation in the future. In addition, they are building a new workshop, where they specifically want to make a workplace for the Humasol students.

Eloy, mijn huisgenoot is een professionele slackliner uit Barcelona.
Voor wie slackline niet kent, hieronder is de video te zien van Eloy zijn kunsten.
Tot nu toe hadden we zijn slackline op ons terras geïnstalleerd, maar dit weekend gingen we op zoek naar een meer uitdagende plaats. Het zwembad waar ik dagelijks ga zwemmen leek ons een goed idee en dit is ook waar we het touw uiteindelijk spanden. Ongeveer 20m slackline, boven een zwembad, meer hadden we niet nodig voor een geweldige zondag. Mijn niveau is nog steeds bijna 0, maar Eloy zal proberen om mij op 3 maanden de basis goed te leren.
Ik heb vorige week ook besloten om een fiets te kopen, aangezien ik geregeld een mototaxi moet nemen en dit uiteindelijk toch veel kost. En het is nog wel tof om door de straten te rijden op een fiets, ze zijn dit hier duidelijk niet gewoon. Eloy heeft er ook één gekocht en we zijn zaterdag een toertje van 2u gaan fietsen, naar de Rio Marañon.
Met het werk gaat ook alles goed. Er was een tijdelijke schaarste aan koffiebonen, waardoor ik de kalibratie nog steeds niet heb kunnen doen. Maar dit zou normaal snel in orde moeten komen, nu het koffieseizoen eraan komt. Ik heb me dus bezig gehouden met het maken van de technische tekeningen van onze behuizing, die nu ongeveer af is. Ook ben ik op zoek geweest naar producenten hiervan, waardoor ik in contact kwam met de mensen van een plastic beurs in Lima. Deze beurs is binnen 1 maand en ik zal dan naar Lima afreizen om de beurs te bezoeken en producenten te zoeken, zowel voor de behuizing als voor de andere onderdelen.
Ik ging ook met Sol y Café praten over de toekomst van dit project, en ze zijn nog steeds bereid om ons te steunen. Onze ideeën voor op lange termijn werden positief onthaald, en we zullen dus nog blijven samenwerken in de toekomst.
De Yapango’s zijn het ook eens met al onze voorwaarden en willen graag de productie op zich nemen. Dit verzekert voor hun de samenwerking in de toekomst, waar ze duidelijk blij om waren. Bovendien zijn ze bezig met het bouwen van een nieuwe werkplaats, waar ze specifiek plaats willen maken voor de Humasol studenten.
